Incognito and The Tor Project sign a licensing agreement

by phobos | June 27, 2008

Incognito is an open source LiveDistro assisting you to securely and anonymously use the Internet almost anywhere you go. Incognito can be used from either a CD or a USB drive and has several Internet applications (Web browser, IRC client, Mail client, Instant messenger, etc.) pre-configured with security in mind, and all Internet traffic will be anonymized.

At the core of this anonymity is the Tor&#0153 software and network. In recognition of the transparency, open source base, continued development, and improvement of the Incognito software, The Tor Project is proud to list Incognito as a licensee of the Tor brands.

Incognito has the right to use the Tor name and the Tor onion logo&#0153 as needed. The high quality graphics will improve the user experience. The usage of the Tor brand will only further reinforce that Incognito is a legitimate solution using the Tor software.

We welcome the further cooperation and collaboration between Incognito and The
Tor Project.

Hi
Can you please add a compression functionality to Tor network that all clients and servers compress their data packages in bZip2 format. This will be not only a revolution in tor project but a revolution in Internet too. This will increase overall tor network speed 2 to 4 times faster and it will reduce overall network traphic as well.
I know some computer programming. I will be happy to help you add this functionality to Tor Network.
Finally sorry for my bad english.
Thanks.

Is there a tor forum somewhere? If there is, please tell me the adress. I've heard that encryption on websites can by pass the browser and reveal information about users.

Is there a Tor forum? I had Tor running on my computer for years, but with my new pc (windows vista) I hardly can surf the web because when tor is installed is toooooooo slow... can anybody help me out? Would be nice!

I bet your entire computer isn't slow, just browsing the internet over tor can be slow at times. we're aware of this and actively working on speeding it up.

I have the newest vidalia bundle. The privoxy displays random ip locations when I blog on my news site but I'd rather it be blank, or anonymous.

Is there any software of this sort that is compatible with TOR?

Would I be able to simply uninstall privoxy and still use the rest of the bundle?

You can't be on the internet and NOT have an IP address. Tor just changes the IP you appear to be coming from to an exit node

And yes, you can use Tor and Vidalia without privoxy. Polipo is a fine alternative.

Or you can download the Tor Browser Bundle and have a pre-configured firefox/tor/polipo.

How feasible would it be to use TOR to remotely control a computer and have that computer use TOR to access sites anonymousely?

am having trouble with the update in ubuntu. I get an error message about a lock file that it cannot open. New to Linux and the instructions are not exactly clear. Help would be appreciated.

1. I opened terminal and ran the instructions for adding gpg key. That seemed to work ok. Then refreshed my sources (i.e. closed and reopened the sources file). Then restarted terminal and typed the 'apt-get update' command with this result:

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

stuck at this point.

I have installed squid+privoxy with tor on my computer. Everything seems to be running fine beside the speed. But that is the downside of running tor. I have a question. Is it possible to configure privoxy and or tor to not show up as a proxy server?

Here is my situation. I live outside of the USA and I would like to listen to the radio stations online. However, FCC restrict access to listen to online radio. Now if this is the case, shouldn't it pertain to ALL radio stations? I am able to listen to some of the radio stations but not all.

Since my ip shows up in USA by the exiting node, I can theoretically listen to the stations, but it is still detecting that I am outside of the USA but the ip that shows up is in USA. I am guessing that their software is detecting that I am using a proxy server and that prevents me from accessing the stations online.
